Service items for AGO-1:

STATION:

Perform station upgrade (see CAGOSYS documentation)

DAU

Replace the NVRAM with a new NVRAM.

Shutoff valve

Replace batteries in the shutoff valve.

TEG

Set pressure to 3.5 PSI. Set each burner temperature to 260-300°C.

Set the indoor temperature to 15-20°C.

EXPERIMENTS:

Lucent Fluxgate magnetometer

See service instructions for normal servicing. Verify H axis.

There should be no offset. Verify that the operating range switch is set to 10^3 nT.

Tohuku searchcoil magnetometer

Upgrade per CAGOULFM. Verify that the experiment is functioning.

Stanford VLF receiver

Upgrade per CAGOELFM. Verify operation.

Perform the ‘calibration’ procedure if the equipment is available. Install new batteries.

University of Maryland Riometer

Install the new filter module in the Riometer vault. Install signal attenuators in riometer vault.

Verify operation of the experiment over a 24-hour period.

Verify that the data does not seem to clip at a lower that expected value.

Dartmouth LF/MF/HF receiver

Collect data and verify the operation of the experiment.

Allsky camera

Perform allsky camera modification (CAGOALLM). Install new batteries.

Install new EPROM. If calibration flashlight is available, use it to capture a few images.

If not, capture blank images (with the camera completely covered).

Verify the locations of the calibration squares and the photodiode levels. Install new batteries.

Anubis Seismic

Install the Anubis seismic experiment per the experimenters’ documentation.

NASA LIDAR

Remove experiment from station and return it to Jonathan Rall in McMurdo or South Pole.

Service items for AGO-2:

STATION:

Perform station upgrade (see CAGOSYS documentation). Raise the station if necessary.

DAU

Replace the NVRAM with a new NVRAM.

Shutoff valve

Replace batteries in the shutoff valve.

TEG

Set pressure to 3.5 PSI. Set each burner temperature to 260-300°C. Set the indoor temperature to 15-20°C.

EXPERIMENTS:

There should be an offset of +500nT from the null.

Verify that the operating range switch is set to 10^3 nT.

Determine the problem with the bias field selector switch and fix the problem (see instructions).

Upgrade per CAGOELFM. Verify operation. Perform the ‘calibration’ procedure if the equipment is available.

Replace the NVRAM with a new NVRAM. Determine problem with serial connection on the channel in which the Allsky camera is connected. There also may be a problem with the serial connection to the DCU. Investigate this possible problem.

Replace batteries in the shutoff valve.
